Amesbury Poisoning - Novichok Strikes Again!

A couple has been found unconscious in Wiltshire after being exposed to novichok, the same chemical used to poison Sergei Skripal. They are both in hospital in a critical condition. The police claim that there is "nothing in their background" to suggest that they could be targeted. The incident happened on Saturday when paramedics were called twice to a house at 11:00 BST and then again later that day.

Wiltshire police are saying that it was originally believed by the police that the two patients had fallen ill from contaminated heroin or cocaine. By late that evening, Scotland Yard said Novichok was to blame following analysis at the defence research facility at Porton Down, Wiltshire.

Novichok is a nerve agent that was developed by the soviet union in the 1970s and 80s, it takes effect within minutes, stopping messages getting to the muscles from the nerves. It can affect breathing and cause paralysis.

It was also used earlier in the year when ex russian double agent was poisoned about 10 miles from this incident.

The government of the UK blamed Russia for the assasination attempt but Russia has denied all allegations and accused the UK of faking the blame. According to BBC News, the most likely hypothesis was that the novichok was left over from the attack earlier this year.

The Mathenian Government however, believe that it was neither attacks were caused by orders from the Russian government but instead were ordered by someone else. It is most likely that the novichok was manufactured by the russians but it is unlikely that they would have used the poison as they would most likely spark a war. The UK has not yet pointed the blame at the russians but it is "only a matter of time" according to russian media who call the incident "another dodgy story"
